Tom Bisio & Frank Butler
Tom Bisio has been practicing Chinese medicine since 1990 and has been a teacher and student of the martial arts for over 30 years. Tom has trained with many teachers both in the United States and in Asia. In addition to completing a B.A. in Asian Studies from Columbia University and being a graduate of the Tri-State College of Acupuncture, Tom apprenticed in Chinese herbology, acupuncture, Qi Gong, Tui Na and Bonesetting. In the past, Tom has worked with athletes at elite gyms in NYC, and movement therapists at the Laban Center for Movement Studies. Today he heads a busy clinic of Chinese medicine in NYC specializing in orthopedic problems and traumatic injury. There he oversees and trains other acupuncturists and a constant stream of students from various acupuncture schools who come to observe and assist in treatments. He also teaches Xing Yi Chuan and Ba Gua Zhang, two of the "internal" styles of Chinese Gong Fu.
Tom is a guest lecturer at the Tri-State College of Acupuncture and is on the faculty of Touro College of Chinese Medicine. Tom and Frank Butler are the creators of Zheng Gu Tui Na, a system of orthopedic medicine which they teach all over the country. Frank Butler has been involved in Chinese medicine since 1990, and Chinese Daoist meditation since 1978. Frank not only received a master's degree in TCM, he also completed a seven year apprenticeship with a traditional Chinese "bone-setter." Constantly trying to improve his skills, he has studied with some of the most famous TCM masters of the 20th century, both in the U.S. and China.
Frank has taught both Chinese medicine, and martial arts, all over the world. He has been practicing martial arts for 28 years, and has dedicated the last 17 years to improving his Chinese medicine skills through practicing and teaching the "internal arts" of Xing Yi Chuan and Ba Gua Zhang.
Frank's unique apprenticeship training, coupled with his strong history of martial arts, has given him an in depth understanding of trauma medicine. Frank has a practice in New York City, where he specializes in injury and musculoskeletal pathology. He has many clients, including professional athletes, many of whom who travel across the country to receive his care. He has treated players of the LA Rams, NY Yankees, NY Mets, as well as many Olympic athletes.
His reputation and skill have earned him features in several publications and television shows; Cosmopolitan, Vogue, NPR, Extra and Fox News to name a few. He was also featured in a documentary titled "Journey to the West: Chinese Medicine Today."
After many years of success in Chinese medicine Frank took the last year off to travel around the world and do aid work, delivering Chinese medicine to those in need. From the mountains of Bali and the Himalayas, through Thailand, and Africa, helping anyone in need, and spreading the wonder and beauty of this incredible healing system.
Marshall's practice has developed out of a lifelong interest in martial arts. He has studied Chinese Kung Fu, Kali Arnis, and Ba Gua. The practice of Chinese medicine has inspired a deeper study and understanding of health maintenance through the use of Qi Gong exercise.
Marshall has been practicing acupuncture in New York City since his 2002 graduation from Tri-State College of Acupuncture. He is also on the faculty of TSCA, teaching and developing new curricula.
